Perdita Felicien electrifies Toronto Youth through Sport-in-a-Box
On Tuesday, August 8, 2006, UNA-Canada was
proud to host a morning with Canadian Olympian athlete Perdita Felicien
and 65 children (aged 9-12) at the Metro Central YMCA in Toronto to discuss the
cross-cultural theme of Sport Unites!
The
morning was a community outreach event bringing together youth from YMCA
day-camps and the Native Child Services and Family centre to discuss
how sport is a unifier with the potential to resolve conflict while
promoting a life-long engagement in Sport and Physical Education. The
morning’s activities were led by UNA-Canada Ambassador of Sport,
Perdita Felicien, the staff of UNA-Canada and a representative from the
Canadian Association for Health, Physical, Education, Recreation and
Dance (CAHPERD).
